About
I am a New Zealand Registered Psychotherapist drawing on psychodynamic, existential, trauma models and from clinical social work modes of practice. I have 30 years of practice experience working in the fields of health, mental health, and teaching. I draw on theory from; psychodynamics (Freudian and post-Freudian, object relations theory, attachment theory and trauma concepts), existentialism (meaning making and spiritual conceptual frameworks), trauma theory and positive psychology ("Flourishing" living a “good life”, motivation and applied mindfulness practices). I have a particular interest in the understanding and management of trauma and trauma symptoms and to that end draw on the protocols offered by Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR).
