Asking for help is a skill. My first contact with a potential client is based on my belief that they are asking for help and looking for guidance. I am not the expert, merely a guide with considerable education, experience, and knowledge. My preferred therapeutic modality is the 8 phase protocol of EMDR. This therapy can help to learn emotional regulation skills to manage symptoms, provide psychoeducation as to how experiences affect the human condition, and integrate therapeutic interventions to bring about change. Talk therapy does not facilitate permanent change for many clients. EMDR therapy uses the Adaptive Information Processing model (how we learn) to help reprocess the memories that are informing the beliefs that are "stuck" and prevent healing. I am a Certified EMDR Therapist and Approved Consultant through EMDRIA. I based my work with clients from an attachment perspective. A healthy therapeutic relationship is part of the healing with an integrative approach.
