I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Clinical Substance Abuse Counselor, with more of a focus on mental health struggles versus substance use. Regarding specialties, I try to not claim to be a purist of any one counseling modality, but I integrate various therapy approaches. I’ve been trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), a therapy approach for treating trauma. I’ve also had training and utilize aspects of Motivational Enhancement Therapy when working with individuals on substance use or compulsive behavior concerns. Mainly, I use and value the basic counseling skills to let those I’m helping, and hopefully without hindrances, feel heard. In my sessions, I’ll ask open-ended questions, affirm emotions, reflect content shared, and summarize themes. Using these approaches and specialties, I have historically provided therapy to adults.
