One word. Trauma. What is trauma? So many answers. Natural disasters, community violence, family violence, medical trauma, emotional abuse, physical abuse, sexual abuse, divorce, death, illness, accidents, the list goes on. Global Pandemic? Definitely. What happens when we experience a trauma and we don’t get treated? Again, so many answers: depression, anxiety, insomnia, self-medicating, hopelessness, low motivation, hypervigilance, avoidance, nightmares, low self-esteem, over-eating, under-eating, ruminating. You get the idea. As a trauma-informed clinician, I will approach our work with empathy, non-judgement and collaboration. Healing happens when you are seen, heard and felt by another human being. You are worthy of a safe, unbiased, and productive opportunity to process your experiences. It's OK to not be OK!
